HTH Cultures Coming Together

  Our last service project this year included helping the Yearbook team complete their school-wide art project, “Our Cultures Coming Together.”  The robotics team build a frame support for the artwork created by students reflecting their different cultures.  The final work will be hung in the Commons and unveiled at the final day’s assembly, May 21st.

Raise Your Voice Grant Project

Team 1548 Robotics is raising $1200 by participating in ASD’s teen underage drinking prevention grant program.  Four students will attend an all-day training on the grant on Friday, February 13, 2009 from 8:00 to 1:30 pm at the BP Energy Center (36th & New Seward Hwy).

The grant calls for creating media to help “Raise Your Voice’ to other teens, helping them to make good choices.

Las Vegas Regional Competition

From uncrating the box, to rebuilding our frame and then finally competing, the team held together with “gracious professionalism” through all the stress and trials.  We even had fun!  Although our overall ranking wasn’t so hot, we overcame some huge obstacles.  Way to go, team!

Robotics Team Presenting to IEEE

On Wednesday, Feb. 25, HTH Robotics students (the whole team) will present to the IEEE Engineers during their monthly meeting, held at the Sourdough Mining Company.  A bus will be provided.  Please dress professionally, and turn in your permission form asap to Ms. Menadelook.

Final Week of Build

Students will be staying until 8pm every night this week to finalize our robot build.  We have been making excellent project, and hope to have it running by Monday evening!  That gives us one week to drive and test out everything before we ship it on Tuesday, Feb. 17 (3pm) via FedX.Thanks to all the parent support and healthy food, since our days are very long (8am - 8pm).

Here is the events we have scheduled this week:

Monday - Feb. 9 (1pm - 8pm)
Tuesday - Feb. 10 (3pm - 8pm)

Saturday, Feb. 14 - Our final weekend…  (11am-midnight)
Sunday - Feb. 15 - BREAK
Monday - Feb. 16 - Holiday.. we will work ALL Day!!  (Final day before the shipping) (10am - 8pm)

TUESDAY… Feb 16 - SHIP THE ROBOT (3pm at the latest, when FedX picks it up)..
Hopefully, we will have it in the box and ready to go Monday evening.

Getting Closer to Deadline…

Hey everyone the Robotics team is almost finish with the robot.  Many kids with different ideas have been helping out in creating this amazing robot.  This has been an outstanding building week; putting the wheels on and bumpers for this creative robot. Here’s hoping we get it done on time and raise enough money to travel to our competition!

Travel Sponsor Sheet

Team 1548 is finalizing travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, for our Regional Competition.  We will be leaving Anchorage March 24 and returning on March 31 (late).  Cost per student is $1,445.00.  Attached is a 1-page sheet for HTH Team 1548 students to use for getting sponsors for their travel.

Robotic’s Building Continuation

 This video shows the building continuation of the Robot.  Many students have been working “HARD”, day and night on this robot.  Right now we have the frame, wheels, and the gear boxes already fixed. Right now we’re still building if you want to know more just add a comment.
